Arranged on requestNot an instant booking. We arrange this with a local provider for your date and confirm the provider, vehicle and total price in writing before you pay anything.

How the trip runs

  1. About 07:15

    Leave Luang Prabang

About 45 minutes on a winding, paved road south of town.

  2. 08:00

    Kuang Si opens

A short shuttle from the car park to the trail, then the path up past the bear rescue centre to the tiered pools and the main fall.

  3. Morning

    Pools and swimming

Swim only in the marked pools; changing rooms are near the pools.

  4. Late morning

    Back to town

Return to Luang Prabang, usually by lunchtime.

Why not a shared tuk-tuk?

Shared tuk-tuks and minivans to Kuang Si are cheap and easy to find in town, and they are fine if your timing is flexible. A private car is for travelers who want to be there at opening, choose how long to stay, and avoid riding the road on a scooter, which travel guides describe as dangerous because of potholes and fast vans.
