Privacy notice

This notice explains how Laos Explore (“we”, “us”) handles personal data when you use laosexplore.com, send us a trip request or book a trip we arrange. The business responsible for your data is identified in any proposal we send you. If you have questions, email hello@laosexplore.com.

What we collect

Trip requests: your name, email address, travel dates and flexibility, trip length, number of travelers and children’s ages, how you plan to arrive, whether you want to ride a motorbike, transport preference, budget range, places and interests, any mobility or health notes you choose to give, and your message.
Trip planning and bookings: details needed to book your services, such as names as in passports, pickup locations and arrival or departure details.
Technical data: when you submit the form, our hosting provider processes your IP address to prevent abuse (rate limiting and, if enabled, bot protection). We store the page you came from and a coarse country code, not your IP address.

Please do not send passport scans, payment card numbers or detailed medical information through the form or by unsolicited email. If we need sensitive details to book a service, we will tell you why and how to send them.

Why we use it

To reply to your request and plan your trip (steps taken at your request before a contract).
To book the services you accept with the providers who deliver them, and to handle your prepayment (performance of a contract).
To keep records we are required to keep, such as accounting records (legal obligation).
To protect the site from spam and abuse (legitimate interests).

We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it and we do not add you to a mailing list.

Who we share it with

Providers in your trip (drivers, boat operators, guides and accommodation in Laos), only the details they need to deliver their service, once you have asked us to book it.
Service providers that run our website and email: Cloudflare (hosting, form processing, data storage, bot protection and email delivery) and our email provider. They process data on our behalf.
Authorities, where the law requires it.

Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States and Laos. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

How long we keep it

Trip requests that do not lead to a booking: up to 24 months after our last contact, then deleted.
Booking records: as long as required for accounting, tax and legal purposes.

Cookies and analytics

This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies and does not currently use website analytics. If we add privacy-focused, cookieless analytics in future, we will describe it here before it is used. The bot protection on our form (Cloudflare Turnstile), when enabled, may process technical information about your browser to tell people from bots.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to its use, to receive a copy of it and to complain to a data protection authority. To use these rights, email hello@laosexplore.com. We will reply within one month.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access limited to the people who plan your trip. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

Changes

We will update this notice if the way we handle personal data changes, and show the date the current version took effect at the top of the page.
